blood diamond

i just watched this movie, and the movie was about diamond which produced through the war, civil war, and it was in Sierra Leone.

one dialog caught my attention was when one old man, which his village burnt down by the rebel, asked his fellow countryman, who guided Leonardo di Caprio to find the pink diamond, "what is that white man doing here? i hope he doesn't find any oil here" because he knows that because of the diamonds their country through the civil war and will be worsening if "they" found another "diamond" to fuel the war.

well...well... we have hot discussion in our mailing list, about Oil and Gas contracts in our country, Indonesia. one is about Tangguh LNG, and other one is about Exxon Mobil contract obligation.

then i watched this movie, then i thought about it, our own "diamond", oil, gas, gold, bauksit, and all those natural resources we have.

have all these natural resource exploration given benefit to our nation?
yes, they have. in fact,they were the biggest source of our nation's revenue for years

now, the question is, can we get the full benefit out of it? can we maximize our revenue from them? for the sake of our nation.

well, the first step should be how we can make the best deal to exploit them, if we don't have our own money. investments. ofcourse. contracts... all those tricky words :)
