Southern Ridges

"cool waves"
Last saturday i had a chance to have a big walk to cross the Southern Ridges, started from Kent Ridge Park, Canopy Walk, HortPark, Anderson Arch, Forest Walk, and ended at Henderson Waves.

The full length of the Ridges actually finish on Harbour Front, or Marang Trail, but because when we reached the waves was a bit late in the afternoon, we decided to go home, and i hope i can finish the trail until the Harbour Front next time.

Some infos if you want to take a walk across the Southern Ridges; herebelow is the steps from our experience:
- Started from Buona Vista MRT and took Taxi to Kent Ridge Park, around 5 dollars.- continued walking towards Canopy Walk
"Aouoooo, where is Jane?"
- reached Hort Park
- crossed Alexandra Arch- walked the Forest Walk
- last destination, Henderson Wavesfrom Henderson Waves, we went down to the road below the bridge, crossed the road to a bus stop, boarded bus no 195 to Queenstown MRT.

Obama the President

>>the picture is courtesy of BBC<<

I must admit, that US Presidential Election 2008, reminds me of what i felt when i watched Manchester United in Champions League Final :D but this is far more important, of course...

It was thrilling, and fortunately MU won it, and today Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America.
"i forgot to mention that Lewis Hamilton is the first black to win the F1 World Champion, it was equally thrilling when i watched Hamilton was overtaken by Vettel and felt relieved when actually Glock was slower on his dry tyres :D"

it is best described by BBC reader, Amy Scullene in Boston:
"I find myself strangely emotional about this. I want to go wake up my neighbours and hug them"

now we hope that Obama can bring America to a better country, for the sake of the world.

Update from the guardian:
Congratulation from Indonesia

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesian president

"Indonesia especially hopes that the US, under new leadership, will stand in the front and take real action to overcome the global financial crisis, especially since the crisis was triggered by the financial conditions in the US."

The Black Swan

short quotes from The Black Swan (p.20-21) book by Nassim Nicholas Thaleb:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"This is sometimes called "FUCK you money", which inspite of its coarseness, means that it allows you to act like a Victorian gentleman, free from slavery. It is a psychological buffer: the capital is not so large as to make you spoiled rich, but large enough to give you the freedom to choose a new occupation without excessive consideration of the financial rewards."

"Independence is person specific: I have always taken aback at the high number of people in whom as astonishingly high income led to additional sycophancy as they became more dependent on their clients and employers and more addicted to making even more money"

"Note that the designation FUCK you corresponds to the exhilarating ability to pronounce that compact phrase before hanging up the phone"
----------------------------------------------------------

i guess those quotes reflect what is in my mind at the moment, regarding my future career and what i want to be.

It is in North Korea!

Jon Stewart:

"We have it. The smoking gun. The evidence. The potential weapon of mass destruction we have been looking for as our pretext of invading Iraq. There’s just one problem - it’s in North Korea."

is it funny? nah...
it is just hilarious ha...ha...

Max Payne: The Kung Fu Edition

i just watched this movie, Max Payne, and it seems to be the adaptation of the max payne:the kungfu edition.

dari slow motion-nya kelihatan sih....

this movie is a slow motion, i mean from the start, it is a slow motion movie. it is not the actions in slow motion, but the storytelling is in slow motion. duh...

i just wanted to go home after around 30 minutes, because the movie is like, sooooo boring....

dead of engineering career in Sg

www.salary.sg
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From what President Nathan said in his speech, these scholars will all be heading to foreign universities for their studies. (Hey, btw, didn’t Professor Kishore Mahbubani, who’s himself a President’s Scholar and now heads the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, wondered aloud why parents are sending their children overseas when our NUS is good enough? Well, he’s comparing with Australian uni’s, but you get my point.)

Two of this year’s P-scholars will head to Cambridge, one to read Law and the other to study Medicine. Another, a Stanford-bound future police honcho, will be taking Economics. The remaining two will respectively read Economics, Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, and Ethics, Politics and Economics at Yale University.

You may argue that Medicine and Econs are science-related courses, but I contend that these graduates are not going to build things or write software in their careers. No matter how technical their minds are, they will never be true engineers.

I declare engineering officially dead in Singapore. :)

Wooden Bowl

dapet cerita dari temen....
------------------------------------

P.S:
susah juga translate ke Indonesia ya....

Kejeblos

ceritanya hari minggu kemaren saya belanja, beli paha ayam beku buat digoreng.
sambil jalan ga tau pikiran melayang kemana gitu, tau-tau kaki kejeblos parit kecil di trotoar...
berdarah-darahlah betis bagian depan, untung aja ga patah tuh kaki.

saya bilang, "ga tau tuh... banyak pikiran kali he...he..."

hmmm...
I then thought about this...

was my head looking up? and forgot that i was walking, and walking is on earth.

then herecomes... --curhatnya--

sometimes, i think i always look up, look to the sky, look how bright the stars, especially the yellow one --i'm not referring to you :D--

and forget that, i walk on earth, muddy, dirty earth...

ah... time... time is life. --mulai ngaco-- :D

--setelah bertanya sama ahli bahasa inggris, Dee dan Az3a, akhirnya tau kalo kejeblos bahasa inggrisnya yang paling mendekati yaitu "slip in to" he...he...--
